Having the time of our life – At Royal Victoria Dock
I heard the weather forecast today refer to “late summer”, which I hate the thought of. The nights are drawing in and while that means that I will be back to taking photos through windows again – which is a good thing – I am already starting to miss it. People are swimming in Royal Victoria Dock to cool off. You wouldn’t catch me swimming in the docks. They might not be working docks any more but when I look at them, I can’t help seeing 100 years’ worth of grime from thousands of ships and decomposing rats. I’d rather stay hot. But the thought doesn’t seem to deter some people – young people admittedly, who probably don’t think about what’s gone before.
Maybe the dock isn’t as dirty as I fear it is. After all, Newham Council has put in an artificial beach for the summer.
